A Personal Invitation

By on January 31, 2015

Jeannie and I want to share something important with you. While I do not often use this space for announcements, this is definitely worth taking the time to read carefully and with prayer.

For many years now, Jeannie and I have had the privilege of association with Sherwood Baptist Church, Albany Georgia. They have become a second home to us in a manner only God could arrange. You, of course, will remember the church from its production of Christian films like Courageous, FireProof, and Facing the Giants.

But Jeannie and I have come to love that church family for its passionate prayer ministry, stirring music, focus on missions, and its gracious pastor, Michael Catt. From its home in Albany, Georgia, this is a church that has touched the world…and touched our lives. Jeannie has been known to reschedule chemo sessions just in order to be present in their worship experiences where she is an honorary choir member.

For the past several years, I  have been privileged to join the remarkable Sherwood team, and other guest ministers at their ReFresh conferences in Albany, and at Pigeon Forge TN. ReFresh conferences focus on revival, spiritual renewal and growth.

During my recent tenure with IMB I invited the Sherwood team annually  to bring the  ReFresh conference to our personnel. They quickly became a favorite of ours, and not merely because they also blessed us each year with a generous gift to missions! They opened their caring hearts to us, became our friends and our encouragers…and yes, our family.

ReFresh is the closest thing I know to the “Fulness” conferences God used to frame a remarkable moving of God in the early ’80’s. Now God seems to be doing the same through ReFresh. There no way to adequately share with you just how lives are changed through this ministry.

I want to invite you to the upcoming ReFresh conference in Pigeon Forge, TN, March 2-4. It would be such a blessing to have you become part of the ReFresh family, a fellowship of people with hearts ablaze for revival and spiritual awakening.

You can read all about the conference, the beautiful accommodations, speakers and musicians, and the schedule, by going online to   And of course, you can always access information on the church’s website at

I really hope you’ll join us!

Rejoice evermore!

Thank you Tom for your inspiring “messages”.  The “Odds” really spoke to me and I appreciate your bringing that to light to all of us!  (With God, everything IS truly 100%!)
Please know we are praying for you and Jeannie so much during your journey.  Praying especially for you this week as you anticipate going for a check-up to see how chemo has been working!  Praying for God’s loving hands to continue to bring healing to your sweet wife!
Wish we could be a part of this ReFresh in TN… maybe some year!  Don’t doubt it would be an amazing time! I do pray that God use it to bless, encourage, strengthen many Saints!  Love and prayers, Janet (and David)

I haven’t missed one since I started attending.  I was afraid that I would miss this year since I am between churches and my income has taken a hit but I was blessed by a friend who paid my fee for the conference.  I am so looking forward to it.
